Vanguard and EA Go Gatling Gears

Independent Developer Vanguard Games and Electronic Arts have announced an exclusive publishing deal for Vanguard's debut game project Gatling Gears, expected for release next year.

Vanguard Games was formed in March 2010 as the result of a merger of two gaming companies: W!Games, a downloadable game developer with a focus on high-end, innovative products, and Karami Games, a executive production company founded by the original founders of Guerrilla Games, Martin de Ronde and Michiel Mol. Before the unveiling of Vanguard Games, W!Games released Greed Corp for downloadable services earlier this year. The release of Gatling Gears will be through the EA Partners program.
It is very exciting to be part of an indie studio again, and bringing best practices from my experience at Guerrilla Games to the development of downloadable games. We feel Gatling Gears is a great representation of what our incredibly talented team is capable of and we can’t wait to bring this game to market together with a strong publisher like EA Partners.

- Martin de Ronde, Chief Commercial Officer of Vanguard Games

Gatling Gears is a top-down dual-stick shooter based in the Mistbound world first depicted in W!Games' Greed Corp. Players assume the role of Max Brawley who is focused on stopping a monopolistic corporation from destroying the environment and using all of the world's resources for its ends. The world is not very stable, and players will need to maneuver through collapsing land and fend off against warring factions along the way.

Gatling Gears is slated for Spring 2011 for XBLA, PSN, and PC.
