PAX East 2013: Apotheon

Amid the multitude of the games present at the Indie Megabooth at this year's PAX East, we caught a glimpse of Alientrap's latest game: Apotheon.  While we were unable to get an interview or fuller playthrough of the game completed, we were able to grab some footage of the game from the showfloor to share with you all.

Apotheon is an open-world action adventure title set in the world of ancient Greece.  In it, Hera, the Queen of the Gods, has overthrown her husband Zeus and now intends to rid the world of humanity.  Players control the last great champion of the humans, and using a myriad of Greek weaponry and the help of others in the world, it is up to him to end the power of the gods and bring prosperity to mankind's future.

The game's artstyle is striking and effectively reflects the world of ancient Greece, depicting large statuesque beings and stone-carved landscapes that could easily be seen on murals and relics of that age.  There are many weapons to choose from, and combat plays a large role in the game, although you may also traverse through cunning stealth in a number of locations throughout the adventure.

Apotheon is currently set to release on PC sometime in mid-2013.
