Telltale tells tale on Jurassic Park games

Adventure developer Telltale Games has provided some insight on the upcoming games based on the Jurassic Park franchise, posted in this upcoming Game Informer.

To summarize, the game will take place over five episodes, much like the previous series the company has worked on, and its plot will take place immediately following the first movie from the park staff's point-of-view. While no major characters from the movie will appear, bit characters are expected to show up over the course of the adventure.

What makes this series of games different from the rest comes from the unique QTE (Quick Time Event) segments in which players have to make correct key presses in order to pass particular obstacles and ultimately survive. The developer stated that the inspiration for these additional segments comes from Heavy Rain, an interactive adventure for Playstation 3 which focuses almost entirely on QTE gameplay through which it tells a compelling story.

Other than PC and Mac, no platform has been confirmed, and it is expected to start releasing in Spring of this year.

Telltale Games is an adventure game developer formed in 2004 from ex-LucasArts developers focused on the Sam & Max franchise. Besides rebooting an episodic Sam & Max series, the developer has created a five-episode series based on Homestar Runner's Strong Bad, aptly-named Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People. Another series based on Wallace and Gromit was created, although it only spanned four episodes. The company worked with LucasArts on the five-part Tales of Monkey Island series, and last year it released two games as "pilots" for prospective franchises: Puzzle Agent and Poker Night. Besides Jurassic Park, TellTale is currently working on a five-episode series based on Back to the Future, the first of which launched this past month.
