Weekly Releases: 8/8/10

It seems that the summer is starting to slowly but surely draw to a close. Students are starting their preparations, and those who just graduated are now sighing at the realization that summer jobs will never stop. That doesn't mean gaming will stop, though!

Significant Releases

Madden NFL 11 (360/PS3/PSP/Wii)

Developer: EA Tiburon (Madden and NCAA Football Franchises)
Publisher: Electronic Arts

Much like the Super Bowl, this game is anticipated every year by football fans around the country. Complete with new rosters and added graphical enhancements all around, it seems this is what Madden fans will enjoy. It promises to provide a much faster game experience, and with new dual-stick controls, it hopes to add a level of accessibility to other gaming enthusiasts. There is even a new 3-on-3 versus Co-Op online mode, too, so there should be a new way to play Madden this year!

Monday Night Combat (XBLA)

Developer: Uber Entertainment

Take the humor and team-based combat from Team Fortress 2, throw in a futuristic, arena-style world for the players to fight in, and put it all into a third-person shoot-em-up. That is what Monday Night Combat brings to the Xbox Live fanbase. There are six different classes to join, from a heavy-weapon-holding Tank to the Sniper, who can not only snipe from afar but also drop traps on occasion. Players can enjoy one of two modes: Crossfire, in which players try to get robots safely to the other team's side to destroy their Money Ball, and Blitz, in which one, two, or four players protect their Money Ball from wave after wave of robots. For the multiplayer gamer, this might be one to look at for some more fun.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game (PSN, XBLA on Aug 24th)

Developer: Ubisoft Montreal and Chengdu
Publisher: Ubisoft

How far would you go to be with the one you love? How about fighting against your love's evil exes in order to stay together? That's what Scott Pilgrim has to do, and in this comic-turned-movie-and-game you get to help him. Up to four players choose characters from the unique hit comic series and face each evil ex in a beat-em-up game with old school flair. Those looking for a retro style game that is given a dash of awesome effects and animation will find nothing wrong with Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. Try not to forget about the movie, too! That comes out this week, as well.
