Weekly Releases: 7/4/10

It is time for us Americans to remember what our forefathers did in order to create our country, but when that and barbecues are diminished by the end of the week, we can turn to video games for fun!

Significant Releases

Crackdown 2

Developer: Ruffian Games (New Developer made of Ex-Crackdown Team and then some)
Publisher: Microsoft Games Studios

In Crackdown 2, the sandbox game is expanded and exploded just as the original would have intended. Taking place some time after the first's conclusion, players continue their role as an Agent to protect the city and the people, but this time, the player is also fighting against raging mutants as well as a new terrorist organization against the "Agency." Players have to go activate bombs that destroy only the infected, but with so many new enemies to face, it is looking to be quite a challenge. Of course, multiplayer is a heavy facet this time around.

Monkey Island 2: Special Edition (PC/XBLA/PSN)

Developer and Publisher: LucasArts

LucasArts continues the remakes of the classic Monkey Island series with Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge! Much like the previous Special Edition, this game contains both the classic graphic styles and the revamped, redrawn graphic style, complete with redone audio from the original cast. An additional mode is that players can pull up commentary from the creators a la MST3K and have them make quips as they play the game. Certainly something to add to any Pirate's list.

Despicable Me: The Game (Wii/DS/PSP)
