TGS: Radiant Silvergun to XBLA

After over a decade of searching for a rerelease of the super-rare shooter, fans can now rest in happiness knowing that Treasure is bringing Radiant Silvergun to XBLA.

One of the first game announcements at Microsoft's Tokyo Game Show Conference, Radiant Silvergun is the spiritual predecessor to Ikaruga, an arcade shoot-em-up in which color polarity defines whether players' ships stay in the air or get shot down. In both games, players can choose between one of two colors, and enemies shoot attacks which correspond to those colors. In Ikaruga, the colors were black and white; in Radiant Silvergun, it is blue and yellow.

Radiant Silvergun for XBLA will feature improved graphic fidelity and a new offline cooperative mode. Replay videos can be recorded and downloaded through Xbox Live, as well. Looks like fans finally get their wish.

The game is currently slated for a 2011 release.

Treasure is best known for developing Ikaruga, Gunstar Heroes, and Sin and Punishment. Recently, the company finished Sin and Punishment 2 for the Wii and was apparently hiring for a 3D shooter. Whether this game announcement and that job hiring coincide is unknown.

Bangai-O Banging-Onto XBLA!

Treasure, the development company behind Sin & Punishment, Ikaruga, and Gunstar Heroes has announced that it is bringing a new title to Xbox Live Arcade this November: the next game in the Bangai-O series!

Bangai-O HD: Missle Fury is an action arcade shooter in which players control Bangai-O, an extremely powerful robot mech through a myriad of short but heavily-destructive scenarios. The game has a puzzle element involved, what with time limits and several obstacles and enemies in the way. Looking at the screenshots of the DS prequel will give you an idea of HOW hectic the series is.

The Bangai-O series began on Dreamcast and then ventured onto DS with Bangai-O: Spirits. Like the sequel, Missle Fury will allow for levels to be created and shared, though levels will be shared online as opposed to via sound files. Without the level editor, the game still contains over 100 levels provided by Treasure itself.

The game is expected for a release in November at a price of 800 MS Points. It will be playable at PAX Prime this up-coming weekend.
