Megaman Legends 3's Heroine is Chosen!

After a month of letting fans vote on their favorite character design for a new character in Megaman Legends 3, the company has finally unveiled the winning design.

After Capcom unveiled Megaman Legends 3 to the public, it opened a poll containing nine distinct designs for a new heroine to be included in the game. Each of these designs were drawn by artists in previous Mega Man games, and according to the poll, the design would have a distinct characteristic to the personality of the character.

The winning designed turned out to be the work of Shinsuke Komaki with over six thousand votes from the 23,000+ total votes from both America and Japan.

Thanks to everyone who voted for my design!! Being able to hear opinions directly from you the fans was a unique experience for me, and I am so thrilled to be a part of Legends 3 in this capacity. The work from the other designers are absolutely wonderful, and gave this project a very noticeable "premium" kind of feeling.
(The feeling of suspense was intense.)

Alrighty then, character designers on the Legends 3 dev team, I wish you luck with taking my designs and making them "Legendsdary."

SENSEI's character design went in second place, followed quickly by Tatsuya Yoshikawa's design. Check the source for the full listing.

This is not the final time fans will have input in the project. Soon, the company will be opening the "Legends Dev Blog," where people can follow up on the development of the new heroine as well as find more events in which they can participate and add to the game's production.

Megaman Legends 3 is a large-scale project which was announced to be in development for the Nintendo 3DS this past September, shortly after Nintendo held its Fall Conference to discuss the upcoming launch of the handheld device. The game will be focusing heavily on fan input, as this poll demonstrates. There will be other ventures for fans to chip into the game, including potential side stories to be written by the biggest of Megaman Legends fans.

A release for Megaman Legends 3 is still not known, as the game is in early development.

Choose Your Heroine for Megaman Legends 3

As of last week, Capcom is holding a poll on character designs for a new heroine character in its 3DS project, Megaman Legends 3.

Capcom announced last week that it would be introducing multiple ways through which fans could add to the final product of Megaman Legends 3. The first would be choosing the character design for a new character to be introduced in the new installment.

Rather than choose from a small selection, Capcom is providing nine different designs, each made by a specific Mega Man artist. Basing the results on both Ameican and Japanese tastes, the winning design will be used in the game. The poll is set to end October 25th.
As you can see below, the nine different heroine designs take nine very different approaches, and the design you pick could have effects on her personality and other parts of the game.
The character designs are as follows:

Hayato Kaji (Legends 2, Original 4-8, X, X3, Battle Network)

Hideki Ishikawa (Legends 1 and 2, Original 7 and 8, Power Battle, Battle & Chase)

Kazushi Itou (Legends 1, Original 5-7)

Keiji Inafune (All)

Ryuji Higurashi (X5 and X6, Command Mission, EXE Series, Star Force 1 and 3)

SENSEI Haruki Suetsugu (X4-X6, Xtreme 1 and 2, Legends)

Shinsuke Komaki (Battle Network Series, Star Force Series, Tron Bonne, X3 and X6, 8)

Tatsuya Yoshikawa (X, X7 and X8, Maverick Hunter X, Powered Up)

Toru Nakayama (Zero Series)

Nintendo's Conference: Megaman Legends 3

At Nintendo's Fall Conference, Capcom finally announced that it is making the next title in the Megaman Legends franchise for the Nintendo 3DS.

Capcom finally let it be known that Megaman Legends 3 will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS, but details for the actual product are slim.

Alongside the announcement of the project, Capcom opened up a special blog which will look at the game while it is developed. Apparently, fans will have a pretty good effect on the development of the final product. On the blog, development head Keiji Inafune wished to say a lot about the project, but he cannot, at least until later.
…Having said that, there are so many details about the project that I am dying to tell all of you… but you’ll have to wait and let your imaginations run wild for just a little longer, until the Comic Con in New York next month!
On that note, here is a small factoid. The game is being developed by the Battle Network team and then some, and the director, Masakazu Eguchi, was the scenario writer for the BN series and director of Mega Man Star Force 2. Does that make or break the game? We will not know for some time.

No release date has been given for Legends 3, but late 2011 is the earliest for the release, we would guess.
