Ghostbusters Getting Slimy

Atari and Sony have announced that they are collaborating on yet another Ghostbusters game, entitled Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime.

The game stars the protagonist of the previous Ghostbusters game, a rookie hired by the original crew in the 2009 Ghostbusters title. Unlike the previous game, which was a third-person shooter akin to Resident Evil 4 but with silly ghosts and lots of Ghostbusters lore, Sanctum of Slime is an overhead adventure title in which up to four players can play cooperatively, either online or offline, in order to hunt down large ghostly beings.

None of the original Ghostbusters cast have signed onto the project, so it sounds as though the adventure will not involve the original guard. Still, players will be allowed to see all the original Ghostbusters technology, including the Ecto-4WD vehicle.

Sanctum of Slime will be releasing for XBLA, PSN, and PC downloadable services in Spring 2011.

The game's developer, Wanako Studios, is a Chilean subsidiary of what is now Behavior Interactive. Established in 2002, the company is best known for its ventures in the digital download segment of the video game industry. The company's latest games include Arkadian Warriors from 2007 and both titles in the Assault Heroes franchise.
