Summer of Arcade titles Dated, Priced at $15 a Pop
The Summer of Arcade's third year is approaching, and while we already know the games appearing this July-to-August, the dates and pricing have finally been unveiled. Let's see what lay in store for our wallets!
Limbo, July 21: Developed by indie developer PLAYDEAD, this game has been six years in the making. Looking for his lost sister, a young boy enters the world of Limbo. Simple in its presentation yet haunting in its visuals, this game appears to be a contender to be this year's Braid.
Hydro Thunder Hurricane, July 28: Developed by new developer Vector Unit, this game brings a return to the Hydro Thunder series originally from Midway Games. A fast-paced racer, this game was fun at PAX East and looks fun now.
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, August 4: A multiplayer Castlevania using sprites and enemies from the DS titles. I appreciate the concept, but hopefully it accomodates offline multiplayer or to those with SD televisions. I'm guessing no for both.
Monday Night Combat, August 11: Take Team Fortress 2, make it futuristic, and make it third person. I think that explains new Uber Entertainment's title quite well.
Lara Croft & the Guardian of Light, August 18: This is not Tomb Raider, but rather, a new isometric adventure title starring its heroine. Co-op is king, and from what has been shown, it resembles the likes of the 3D Gauntlet titles of old. Looking fine.
Unfortunately, all five titles will be 1200 MS points, or $15 a pop. If you can't handle that, wait for some deals.
We got to get interviews and gameplay of both Hydro Thunder Hurricane and Limbo at PAX East 2010. If you haven't checked them out, have a look!
